The Calhoun Lecture Series, made possible by a generous gift and in memory of David R. Calhoun (1902—74), contributes to the study and discussion of the role of business in a free society.
About the Calhoun Lecture Series
What role does business play in a free society? How can business change the world, for good? The David R. Calhoun Memorial Lecture Series seeks to answer these and other questions about business scholarship by bringing important and influential voices to the WashU community. The series began in 1978 in memory of St. Louis business leader David R. Calhoun (1902—74). Mr. Calhoun was a prominent St. Louis civic leader, a member of Washington University’s Board of Trusteses, and, in 1956, the inaugural recipient of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat Man of the Year award.
