Eric Morey, Executive MBA
Director of Client Services
DST Systems, Inc.
“The EMBA professors were really present in my executive
education, which added tremendous value to my Olin experience.”
“The idea of adding 15 to 20 hours of homework to my schedule each week was daunting. But
the EMBA team did a great job of prepping me for that. Once I got past that fear, I told myself: ‘You can do it.’”
Why he chose Olin’s Executive MBA program
One of Morey’s brothers is an Olin EMBA alum. “So choosing Olin was a no-brainer for me, even though some of my colleagues attended other business schools.” He liked the EMBA program’s strong emphasis on leadership and that members of each cohort are older, with more professional experience, than traditional MBA students.”
What impressed him about the faculty
“Olin faculty members have a high profile in the university world. They’re prestigious scholars, researchers, and consultants for companies across the globe.” So Morey assumed TAs would do some of the heavy lifting in the classroom.
“But the professors were really present in my executive education, which added tremendous value to my Olin experience.
“I particularly enjoyed my Organizations and Incentives course. It allowed me to look holistically at the division I was running, apply logic, and move away from the matrix structure that was costing DST time and money.”
His concerns about going back to school
“I probably had 8 million reasons to be terrified of going back to school. For starters, as a Type A workaholic, the idea of adding 15 to 20 hours of homework to my schedule each week was daunting. But the EMBA team did a great job of prepping me for that. Once I got past that fear, I told myself: ‘You can do it.’”
His advice for other professionals who are considering the program
“Be informed, but don’t be afraid to take the leap.”
