“Olin gave me a lens to understand my own career management. Now, I’m more comfortable taking risks and pushing for opportunities.”

“Olin gave me a lens to understand my own career management. Now, I’m more comfortable taking risks and pushing for opportunities I wouldn’t have pushed for previously. I also have a much better understanding of how to create and capture value.”

Why she chose WashU’s Executive MBA program

“WashU’s Executive MBA program is taught by Olin’s senior, tenured professors,” Brinkmann says. “That was appealing to me, since many programs are taught by adjunct faculty. I wanted to learn the whys of business concepts, not just the whats.”

Personal and professional takeaways

“Olin gave me a lens to understand my own career management. Now, I’m more comfortable taking risks and pushing for opportunities I wouldn’t have pushed for previously. I also have a much better understanding of how to create and capture value.”

Expanding her leadership profile

“Women tend to think that if we do our jobs well and on time and meet all objectives laid out for us, these things are enough. But the EMBA program teaches us there’s more to being a successful executive. Leaders need to know how to use influence and power wisely to manage change and to create buy-in for their strategic vision.”

What she learned about herself

“I learned I could become comfortable challenging analytics with financial folks. In the past, I didn’t have the expertise to do that.”
