A lot of my classmates came from a more traditional accounting background, and they helped me a lot. We were all assets for one another during the program; we continue to be assets for one another today.
His first impressions of WashU and the Olin community
“Everyone at WashU—from the faculty to the staff to the students—was warm and welcoming to veterans. The Olin Veterans Association sponsored a variety of inclusive events, like meet and greets and a welcome reception with the dean.”
Top three takeaways from the program
“For me, the No. 1 takeaway was the caliber of the professors. Their accessibility and collegiality were fantastic. My No. 2 takeaway was the quality of the students. A lot of my classmates came from a more traditional accounting background, and they helped me a lot. We were all assets for one another during the program; we continue to be assets for one another today. Flexibility was my No. 3 takeaway. The faculty structured my coursework so I could take advantage of a good job opportunity. Career placement really is the goal of the program.”
What impressed him most about the curriculum
“The MACC curriculum provided all the things I needed to be successful in my career and prepared me to sit for the CPA exam. My favorite course was Financial Issues and Leasing, taught by professor Mark Soczek.”
Thoughts for other military officers who are considering the program
“You’d be hard pressed to find a more accommodating program that supports your career goals.”
