We were just reading an email from J.T. Peters, MBA’14, about his startup Truck Driver Power, launched last December, when the St. Louis Business Journal reported that the company has raised a new round of seed money – $150,000, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The new funding comes from two undisclosed investors and follows a $75,000 financing the company reported raising in May from Memphis-based Innova and the Entrepreneurship-Powered Innovation Center (EPIcenter) Logistics Innovation Accelerator, a Memphis-based program backed by FedEx.

Truck Driver Power is an app-based mobile platform for truck drivers to create profiles similar to a LinkedIn page. Companies looking to hire truck drivers can pay for access to the profiles. The app also supports information-sharing among truck drivers aimed at solving driver satisfaction problems.

In his email, Peters, who is CEO of the new venture, said that he and cofounder, Danny Orthwein, CTO, moved to Memphis when they were accepted into the EPIcenter Logistics Accelerator for the summer long boot camp that will conclude with a Demo Day in August. Peters wrote they have increased their team to six men and two women.
