Sakya Sarkar, Ph.D., CFA, is a financial economist and active CFA charter-holder, conducting practitioner-oriented research in Investments. His research—that applies machine learning to identify factors influencing asset returns—has been presented at leading Finance and Tech companies, including Amazon, Barclays, and BlackRock. Besides research, Professor Sarkar finds fulfillment in teaching and mentoring students. Drawing on his extensive experience teaching—Undergraduate, Master's, MBA students, and Executives at Indiana University Bloomington, Tulane University, and USC—Professor Sarkar blends modern pedagogical developments with technological advances to create an inclusive, outcome-driven, experiential learning environment. Professor Sarkar regularly consults for leading financial institutions, helping them with asset allocation decisions. His consulting experience keeps him attuned to the evolving needs of the Finance industry, experience that he utilizes in keeping his courses rigorous and practical, so that students taking these courses can learn the skills in demand. Originally trained as an engineer—with Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Engineering from IIT—Professor Sarkar subsequently obtained a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Southern California. Professor Sarkar has taught disparate courses such as Crypto Currencies, Equities, Fixed Income, Investments, and Venture Capital and Private Equity.
