Olin Brookings Commission

The Olin Brookings Commission is a multiyear initiative launched in 2021 that has convened world-class WashU Olin Business School faculty, Brookings Institution scholars and industry leaders to explore quality-of-life issues of community significance. The work was made possible by a generous grant from The Bellwether Foundation Inc.

The 2023-24 commission is examining and will recommend policy changes to account for the “silver tsunami” of ownership transitions looming ahead of aging Baby Boomer family business owners.

The 2022–23 commission identified root causes of and recommended solutions to address the gap in startup funding for women, Black and Latinx founders.

The 2021–22 commission created an AI-driven tool to flag suspicious shipments of prescription opioids as a strategy to curb the US opioid epidemic.
