Master of Accounting

Whether your career interests lie in public or corporate accounting, consulting or financial services, Olin's Master of Accounting (MACC) program will prepare you for an exciting and challenging future.

Bridget discusses the MACC program The MACC program consists of a minimum of 33 hours of graduate-level course credit in three semesters.

Depending upon your previous coursework, areas of interest, and personal preference, you may have the option of completing the program in two semesters.

Program Distinctions

Elective courses account for 15 credits of the 33-credit program. You can take advantage of the flexibility of the MACC curriculum to meet CPA exam eligibility requirements for the state where you want to work. Depending on your previous accounting coursework, you may choose to focus some electives across a range of non-accounting topics.

A distinctive feature of the MACC curriculum is our capstone course in Accounting Policy and Research. You will acquire a big-picture understanding of accounting trends and regulatory issues, along with the critical-thinking skills to evaluate and debate them.

Format Options

The three-semester program, with the opportunity to seek a summer internship, is an excellent option if you have not had substantive work experience or if you would like to gain exposure to a different industry. However, if you have previous internship or full-time work experience, you may choose to complete the program in a single academic year (two semesters).

Students already enrolled as Washington University undergraduates may apply for early admission to the MACC program as juniors (as measured by degree credit hours accumulated) and begin the graduate portion of their studies once they have obtained senior status. All Washington University students must take at least one full-time and immersive semester beyond their undergraduate studies.
