Recruiting Strategy and Process

We can help you build a recruiting strategy that enhances your organization’s visibility, highlights your employment opportunities and gives you access to exceptional talent. This personalized engagement plan allows you to meet students and generate interest about your employment opportunities even before the interview process begins.

  • Tell us your story. Let’s get to know each other. The better we understand who you are and what you need, the better we can guide you toward meaningful engagements and positive outcomes. A Corporate Relations team member will be your point person and advisor.
  • Define your goals. Looking for top-notch undergrads, ready to enthusiastically begin their careers? More experienced and discerning MBAs or highly trained specialized master’s degree grads? A seasoned leader with an executive degree? By fully understanding your goals, we can advise you on the type of grad who will flourish in your organization.
  • Share your job description with us. Once we receive your job description, an industry lead will post the opportunity on our job platforms that target specific student audiences. We’ll also promote your opportunity—collecting and sending you resume books and coordinating interview schedules. If you prefer to manage the process yourself, then that’s okay too. We’re very flexible.

Recruiting process in five easy steps

  1. Register to recruit. If you’re a first-time Olin recruiter, email recruit@olin.wustl.edu to get started.
  2. Connect with students. Although not required, elevating your firm’s visibility is a proven way to attract top-tier candidates.
    • Career fairs.
WashU offers several career fairs, both university-wide and ones targeted by student population, industry and/or function. Attend them to make your first impression as a hiring employer and encourage candidates to attend your events and apply for your positions.
    • Information sessions.
Host a student information session so candidates learn about the roles and careers within your company. By posting your job and internship opportunities in advance, students are able to prepare questions. Follow a standard presentation format or get creative and have an interactive conversation.
    • Coffee chats.
Meet with students one-on-one or in a small group to build stronger relationships before the interview process and help convert top talent. You can continue positive momentum with students you meet at fairs or information sessions by inviting them to continue the conversation.
    • Get involved.
For highly engaged companies or if you have several roles to fill, we can create a customized path that could include invitations to speak in a classroom or work on a project.
    • Build awareness.
Do you have collateral materials to share? Let us know so we can share them with targeted student groups and add them to display monitors.
    • We’ll come to you.
We often arrange student treks to destination cities. If you’re interested, we’ll let you know when we’ll be in the area.
    • Train the trainer.
We can coordinate a 30-minute meeting with our career coaches so they can better prepare candidates for the unique demands of your talent acquisition process.
    • Check out our annual Recruiting Events Calendar (PDF).
Your Weston Career Center liaison will be happy to recommend the options best suited to your specific search criteria.

  3. Post your jobs. Only students who meet the criteria you’ve set will be able to view information sessions and apply for your positions.

  4. Choose an interview location. Your Weston Career Center liaison will be happy to coordinate schedules and locations.
    • On-site at your firm: You can meet with candidates in your own offices.
    • Online: Our interview suites are virtual-enabled and accessible to Olin students 24/7.
    • On-campus: Reserve one of our interview suites.
  5. Review our policies and best practices. For the most productive recruiting experience, please familiarize yourself with our recruiting guidelines:
