With 12 specializations, you have the unique opportunity to build an MBA that reflects your interests and objectives. Each specialization, headed up by a faculty advisor, provides a 360-degree view of an essential business domain. These specializations go beyond recommended coursework to include co-curricular activities, alumni networking, and job search strategies. Student clubs also play a central role, creating opportunities for you to demonstrate your leadership in front of key influencers in your chosen field.
All this sets you up for success as you interview for internship and full-time employment.

Here’s where you discover it’s all about the brand—and why it’s important. Learn how to craft programs that make consumers want to buy, accelerating revenue acquisition and growth. Discover approaches to direct consumer marketing efforts, coordinate sales, advertising, design, operations, market research, and business analysis to get a product or service to market.

Business Analytics
Master one of the most sought-after skills in the corporate world. The dynamic field of business analytics equips you to make data-driven decisions using exploratory, explanatory, predictive, and prescriptive analysis.

Consulting
The MBA in consulting specialization prepares you for various careers in consulting agencies or large firms with internal consultants. Gain in-depth insight into how consultants solve problems. Learn how to look for solutions across a range of functional domains. How to dig deep, learn quickly, and formulate solutions with buy-in from a wide and varied constituency.

Entrepreneurship
With more than two dozen entrepreneurship courses and a host of hands-on opportunities, we give you the tools to excel in innovation. You’ll learn to fall in love with a customer’s problem and how to do something about it. You’ll also learn how to leverage our entrepreneurial ecosystem in St. Louis and worldwide.

Financial Technology
FinTech transforms how businesses and individuals manage, invest, and interact with financial services. This specialization combines knowledge of finance methods with emerging technologies that deliver financial services faster, cheaper, and with greater security. Topics include blockchain, artificial intelligence, robo-advising, cybersecurity, privacy law, and regulations.

Part of Olin’s Business of Health strategic initiative, this specialization connects academic business concepts to the nuanced problems healthcare organizations face. Specific tracks designed for medical practitioners and aspiring healthcare managers build your understanding of the intense complexity of the U.S. healthcare industry’s structure and functions. You learn how to apply management science concepts to identify pragmatic business solutions while promoting the well-being of individuals and societies.

Private Capital & Strategic Ownership
Private business requires a skill set that centers around what to own, how to own and manage it, when to buy, and when to exit. Over time, it might even involve questions of how to align the right model of ownership (e.g., ESOP, family, purpose trust, minority or majority investor) with the goals of the enterprise.

Wealth & Asset Management
Develop a holistic view of financial health, which is invaluable for clients, high-net-worth individuals, and corporations. Wealth management goes beyond investing, encompassing all aspects of an individual’s or institution’s financial life, including financial markets, portfolio construction, tax strategies, financial scenario modeling, and mastery of financial plans.

STEM MBA option
As an Olin MBA, you can enhance your studies through our STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) MBA option. Of the 35 STEM hours required, 20 are completed in the core curriculum. Take 15 additional STEM credit hours to earn a STEM-designated MBA. These additional credits count towards specializations as well. That gives you ample electives to pursue more than one specialization, experiential learning, and more.
You can focus on specific functional areas with courses such as Financial Tech, Methods & Practice, Analytics-Driven Brand Management, and Operations Management in the Service Industry.
Optional Practical Training (OPT)
Olin gave me the opportunity to reflect on, focus on and dream about my career. I gained confidence in subjects I was unfamiliar with before, like finance and consulting. I was given opportunities to lead student organizations and challenged with classes to help me grow as a business professional.
